MISSION STATEMENT
The Confederation of British Wool Textiles Ltd is a not-for-profit
membership based organisation, providing a wide range of the highest quality
professional services to meet the evolving needs of companies in the textile
industry. Our aim is to facilitate effective representation, support,
guidance and training to ensure the development of the competitiveness
of our member companies in a global market environment.
Our work focuses on six key areas:
COMMERCIAL AND STRATEGY
As the recognised representative body for the UK wool textile industry,
CBWT is in a strong position to guide and influence decisions made at
governmental levels. Lobbying is an important tool in ensuring that the
concerns and needs of the member companies are heard by the right people
and at the right time.
ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS
By negotiating with agencies such as the Environment Agency,
the Department for the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) and
Water Companies we seek to influence the development and implementation
of environmental legislation, standards and discharge consents.
ENco
The Environmental Technology and Analytical Services Division,
operating under the name Enco from premises in Ilkley supports the environmental
activities of the Confederation by providing practical guidance on legislative
compliance. A dedicated laboratory provides a wide range of textile and
environment related testing services.
EMPLOYMENT AFFAIRS
Increasingly onerous changes to UK employment law have proved
a minefield for many companies, with often costly results. CBWT offers
a complete advisory service including Employment Tribunal Representation
to all in Full Membership.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
CBWT can facilitate the development of in-house Health and
Safety policies suited to the individual company; as well as offering
employee training to support the implementation of these policies.
If you
have any issues with the Confederation of British Wool Textiles that
you would like to raise, we have a formal procedure for dealing with
these. Please contact us on 01484 346500.
